Gore Launches New Automotive Vents for High-Severity Applications

Sep 15, 2025

New portfolio addresses growing demand for functional safety and quality assurance in electronic vehicle systems

As vehicle systems become more automated and software-defined, the stakes for component-level reliability continue to rise. Gore has introduced a new range of automotive vents designed specifically for high-severity applications—where system safety, compliance, and cleanliness cannot be compromised.

These venting solutions are qualified for severity levels 9 and 10, aligned with automotive safety and quality standards including ISO 26262, IATF 16949, and VDA 4992. They support customers designing components used in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), steering, braking and other safety-critical modules.

Whether you’re launching an ASIL-rated control unit or developing your next-generation steering platform, Gore’s high-severity venting solutions provide the confidence, documentation, and performance your teams demand.

Built for Safety-Critical Applications

This new generation of GORE® Automotive Vents for High-Severity Applications is developed for systems where even minor contamination or pressure failure could result in major consequences.

Application areas include:

  • Electronic power steering systems
  • Brake control modules
  • Cooling pumps and fan controls
  • Radar and optical sensors
  • Onboard chargers and inverters for power management
  • Electronic control units tied to safety functions

With venting components directly contributing to DFMEA ratings in safety-related systems, engineers now have access to a solution designed and tested for the most stringent requirements.

Verified with Data, Not Assumptions

Each GORE® Automotive Vent for High Severity Applications is tested using automated equipment to ensure Cpk ≥1.67—providing reliable statistical process control without manual variation. This rigorous validation process supports functional safety compliance across platforms.

In addition, Cleanliness Protected versions of each series are available. These vents are cleaned under controlled conditions, vacuum-sealed for integrity, and delivered with third-party cleanliness certification. Traceability is built in to support audit and compliance workflows.
