Compact, lightweight GORE® Vents for Li-Ion battery systems enable:

GORE® Catalytic Device

GORE Catalytic Device for lead-acid batteries effectively recombines hydrogen and oxygen, reducing electrolyte loss and extending battery life, as well as offering:

  • Significant water loss reduction to EN 50342-1 W5 level which maintains electrolyte amounts
  • Improved DCA (Dynamic Charge Acceptance) by enabling more additives to be added
  • Extended battery life by maintaining electrolyte’s specific gravity
  • Enhanced durability with broad temperature range (-30 ºC ~ +75 ºC)
  • Snap-fit mounting for easy integration
  • Potentially supports sustainability with reduced CO2 emission from battery manufacturing and recycled lead (based on initial screening LCA).
Applications
Li-Ion Battery Packs and Battery Management Systems (BMS) for EVs

Today’s EV batteries are facing demands for extended range, shorter charge times and enhanced safety, reliability and longevity. One related challenge is to prevent pressure buildup within the battery pack caused by temperature or altitude changes. GORE® Automotive Vents for batteries reduce pressure differentials with continuous airflow in and out of the enclosure, while blocking contaminants such as water, automotive fluids, salts, dirt and mud.

Lead-Acid (EFB) Batteries

The GORE® Catalytic Device is designed for use in typical manifold-type automotive lead batteries, including:

  • normal/hybrid vehicles
  • start-stop vehicles

Gore’s Device is also compatible with 6-plug automotive batteries. Contact your local Gore representative for additional details.
