Add Durability While Saving Weight with High-Speed Coaxial Cables

GORE® Coaxial Cables in a downsized design operate reliably with controlled impedance at 50 and 75 ohms. They’re proven to optimize signal transmission with low loss up to 12 GHz in avionics and vetronics. With proven outstanding shielding effectiveness, our cables also reduce RF interference among vital systems.

Coaxial Cable Deconstructed

We manufacture GORE Coaxial Cables with specialized features that make them more durable against challenging operational, environmental and maintenance conditions, including:

  • chemically inert materials
  • electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding materials
  • abrasion- and temperature-resistant layers
  • smaller, lighter cable diameters

These coax cables provide a handful of benefits that ensure their reliability and extended life in avionics and vetronics, like:

  • optimized signal transmission with low loss up to 12 GHz
  • proven to maintain controlled impedance at 50 & 75 ohms
  • outstanding EMI shielding effectiveness for less RF interference
  • superior protection against extreme temperatures, weather, abrasion, more
  • significant weight savings due to a compact constructions
  • easier routing with more flexibility and tighter bend radius

Aircraft Only

For military and commercial aircraft requiring controlled impedance at 50 ohms, our cables offer a direct replacement for standard RG400 cables. They optimize signal transmission at coaxial cable speeds up to 3 GHz with 10% lower loss in avionics.

Coaxial cables in IFE systems

GORE Coaxial Cables yield substantial size and weight savings without losing mechanical robustness or electrical stability. The downsized design of our 50-ohm version is 30% smaller and 60% lighter than RG400 cables.

By replacing the RG400 version with Gore’s 50-ohm cable in an IFE system on an Airbus 330/340 passenger airliner, the weight savings is 22 kg (48 lbs.).

If all of the RG400 cables were replaced with our 50-ohm cables in a typical large cabin business jet, the expected weight savings would be approximately 19 kg (42 lbs.).
