Challenge
With the solar-powered AquaPrecise, GARDENA caters to the high quality demands of modern consumers for comfort and control in their garden devices. The innovative electronic sprinkler can be used overground or underground. Especially the latter type of usage comes with particular challenges that make watertightness key. At the same time pressure differentials caused by ambient temperature fluctuations and rain need to be equalized in order to avoid seal damage. External contamination and dust must not influence the tightness and pressure equalization functions to ensure a long lifetime of the entire system.

Solution
After taking the details of the device’s design and particular usage challenges into account, Gore responded to GARDENA’s challenge with the GORE® PolyVent XS Snap-in. This vent is particularly recommended for lightweight, thin-walled enclosures with internal volumes of up to five liters as it provides exceptional water submersion protection while having a good airflow, and it convinced GARDENA with its high quality, performance and its excellent price/performance ratio. In short, it was a perfect match: A high-quality solution for a high-quality product.
The Technology Behind the Solution: the GORE® Protective Vents Snap-In Series
All vents from the GORE® Protective Vents Snap-In Series are hydrophobic and oleophobic. They provide robust performance and durable protection for sealed outdoor electronic devices, with protection persisting even after the vent has been immersed in liquid. Both solid and liquid contaminants are kept from entering the enclosure. The vents equalize pressure differentials rapidly and responsively, reducing seal stress in enclosures through bi-directional air exchange that also reduces condensation.
