- 10 minutes conditioning at each temperature; minimum 200 cycles
Fluid Resistance (ISO 16750-5)
Vent protection against typical automotive chemical loads
- Product performance depends on application method (i.e. cotton cloth, brush, spray, immersion, pouring) and the specific contaminant applied
High-Temperature Resistance
Vent durability under sustained high-temperature conditions
- Heating to +105 °C for 500 hours
Climate Resistance (IEC 60068-2-67)
Vent durability in hot, humid environments
- 85 °C temperature
- 85 % relative humidity
- 1,000 hours
Salt Spray Resistance (ISO 16750-4)
Vent resistance to salt, water and mist over an extended period
- According to IEC 60068-2-52
- Test Method 5 (equals a four-week test period)
We commit to every customer that “our products will do what we say they will do" — and we stand behind that promise with our worldwide resources, expertise, and quality processes.
Easy installation, long-lasting quality
These all-membrane vents (with no backing material) are designed for manual installation on substrates that include all typical housing metals and plastics, and all typical circuit board materials.
Our hydrophobic and oleophobic vents provide very low insertion loss through the audible frequency range, as well as life-of-vehicle protection against contaminant ingress — even in challenging on-road environments.

Gore monitors and strives to comply with all regulations applicable to our products.
We have worked with our suppliers to eliminate PFOA from our supply chain. Our products meet EU REACH regulations EU 1907/2006 and EU 2019/2021.

Frequently Asked Questions
Vents block environmental contaminants and equalize pressure to help maintain a consistent acoustic path that keeps MEMS microphones responsive. This helps reduce distortion and maintain consistent sound quality in both external and cabin-mounted microphones.
ANC systems depend on precise microphone signals to filter unwanted noise. Acoustic vents, like GORE® Acoustic Vents, help MEMS microphones maintain acoustic transparency and consistency. They protect these systems from dust, moisture, automotive fluids and oils with minimal insertion loss and excellent distortion resistance at extreme temperatures. This stability ensures that ANC receives clean input signals, improving accuracy and passenger comfort.
Depending on vent design, materials, and integration, automotive microphones generally achieve IP67 or higher protection levels. GORE® Acoustic Vents meet more stringent requirements, meeting IP6K8 dust and water (2 meters/1hour) ingress protection per ISO 20653.
Hydrophobic and oleophobic vent membranes block liquid water, automotive fluids, dust and dirt from reaching the microphone while at the same time allowing for air exchange. GORE® Acoustic Vents feature a proprietary, waterproof membrane that allows air and gases to pass through freely, rapidly equalizing over-pressures and vacuums, whether the vehicle is parked or moving. This balance helps extend microphone lifespan and ensures stable performance across real-world driving environments.
Acoustic vents extend the lifetime of MEMS microphones by shielding them from dust, water, and automotive fluids that can degrade performance over time. GORE® Acoustic Vents provide life-of-vehicle protection in temperatures -40°C to +105°C. This type of protection helps deliver consistent signal quality ensuring reliability for exterior-mounted microphones used in vehicle sound monitoring / communications and noise cancellation systems.
