Gore Brings Community Together at the Cecil County Fair’s 2026 Military Appreciation Day with Military Veteran and Orioles Legend Al Bumbry

Aug 04, 2026

At Gore, we are always proud to celebrate our community and honor those who protect our freedom. Through our sponsorship of Military Appreciation Day at the Cecil County Fair, we enjoyed a festive time with our neighbors while recognizing those who serve and supporting a special community tradition.

We were honored to host military veteran and Baltimore Orioles Hall of Famer Al Bumbry at our Gore booth. Mr. Bumbry, a Bronze Star hero and 1983 World Series champion, chatted warmly and autographed hundreds of baseballs, which Gore provided for fairgoers.

In addition to sharing signed mementos, Mr. Bumbry offered batting advice to Little Leaguers and recalled his baseball and military service careers with longtime and newly won admirers. He even regaled young 4-H members with stories of his own youth milking cows on his family’s farm.

Thank you to those who also attended the Gore-sponsored Junk Car Race following the signing, where Mr. Bumbry served as opening emcee.

As Cecil County’s largest private employer and a community member for more than 50 years, Gore invests in activities that strengthen our community and create memorable experiences with our neighbors..
