How Does it Work?

When used in a hybrid configuration, this new ultra-thin, non-particulating material helps accommodate battery swelling while optimizing costs by alternating with industry-standard compliant materials. GORE Battery Insulation effectively isolates thermal propagation, preventing catastrophic failure of the entire module.

Diagram showing the GORE Dual-Function Evacuation Vent Activation. The vent assembly includes a breathable vent layer, adhesive, and a proprietary activation layer. The structure sits about 1 mm high before activation and spans less than 35 mm. It is mounted on a housing surface over a battery enclosure. At around 200 mbar of internal pressure, the activation layer enables venting from the battery enclosure through the breathable vent layer.
