Protective Vents

Protect Enclosures from Pressure Buildup and Contamination

For products exposed to the elements such as telecommunications equipment, lighting enclosures and solar equipment, GORE® Protective Vents provide an effective barrier from dust and dirt and still allow the product to breathe with changing environmental conditions. This helps prevent pressure from building up and damaging enclosure seals, exposing sensitive components to water and debris.

Vent and Protect

GORE® Protective Vents enable product designs that keep out water but still vent gasses. This is important for lighting enclosures, solar energy systems and telecommunication systems which may need to be vented to ensure that they perform reliably.

Gore application engineers simulated a rapid heating and cooling cycle to understand the effects of pressure differentials. To learn more about the test and results, you can read the documentation and view the video on this page.

Pressure Problem
GORE® Protective Vents help prevent failed seals and condensation by allowing the product to breathe during changing environmental conditions.
  • Lighting Applications
    Lighting Enclosures
Lighting enclosures are exposed to temperature and pressure changes. GORE® Protective Vents protect against the negative effects of pressure differentials. They provide an effective barrier against harsh weather conditions (rain, snow, high winds). The vents allow water vapor to exit quickly and reduce the likelihood of condensation on the lens.
  • Cell Phone Applications
    Solar Equipment
Pressure within solar equipment enclosures can drop dramatically as a result of rapid temperature changes, causing deflection of CPV panel lenses and stressing enclosure seals. GORE® Protective Vents equalize internal pressure while they also prevent dirt, salt, water and other corrosive liquids from entering the enclosures.
  • Telecome Applications
    Telecom Infrastructure
Equipment used in the telecommunications industry is subjected to rapid temperature fluctuations, a variety of particulates, and exposure to wind, precipitation and solar radiation. GORE® Protective Vents effectively protect against the negative effects of pressure differentials caused by temperature changes and provide an effective barrier against dust, water, salts and other corrosive liquids.
