Data Sheet: GORE® Fiber Optic Cables (900 micron) for Aircraft
Data Sheets, English
With an ideal blend of small, light size and rugged construction, GORE Fiber Optic Cables (900 micron) for Aircraft from W. L. Gore & Associates are easy to route and durable enough to withstand challenging aerospace environments. These aerospace fiber optic cables offer greater shrink back reduction and shorter sample termination times with a similar level of crush resistance as our other Simplex cables to protect sensitive components. Single mode and multi mode configurations offer the versatility needed to support high-speed data transfer for a variety of civil and military aircraft systems.
Cable Performance and Specifications
Designed with a tan polyether ether ketone (PEEK) jacket to protect its fiber core, GORE Fiber Optic Cables (900 micron) for Aircraft are available in single and multi mode configurations with a high-temperature acrylate coating. An expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE) buffering system helps ensure excellent optical performance for clear signal transmission. It all adds up to GORE Fiber Optic Cables (900 micron) for Aircraft delivering the following benefits and more:
Long-Lasting, Cost-Effective Performance
Similar to other Simplex versions, these cables provide a high level of crush protection while drastically reducing shrink back, as well as the time required to terminate samples. What’s more, these single- and multi-mode cables deliver unfailing signal transmission with low optical loss. Using our aviation cables in rigorous maintenance and flight conditions means that engineers can ensure lifetime performance and lower total costs for their aircraft.
Smaller and Lighter Weight
Due to their robust materials and construction, the size and weight of these cables make them easy to route in tight installation spaces and prove to be an excellent choice for inside-the-box applications and transceivers.
Meeting Rigorous Standards across Several Applications
To ensure lasting performance, aviation and airborne cables must withstand challenging environments and hazardous conditions. GORE Fiber Optic Cables (900 micron) for Aircraft have been tested and prequalified to meet key civil and military aerospace standards, including:
- Flammability: ABD0031 (AITM 2.0005); BSS7230; FAR Part 25, Appendix F, Part I
- Smoke Density: ABD0031 (AITM 3.0008B); BSS7238; FAR Part 25, Appendix F, Part V
- Toxicity: ABD0031 (AITM 3.0005); BSS7239
- Performance Requirements: ARINC 802-3 (GSC-13-85067-00)
GORE Fiber Optic Cables (900 micron) for Aircraft are proven to be effective for inside-the-box applications and transceivers. To ensure wide-ranging compatibility, GORE Fiber Optic Cables (900 micron) for Aircraft support a variety of high speed aerospace and defense connector systems and backshells, such as ARINC, MIL-STD-38999 and MIL-PRF-29504, from manufacturers like Amphenol®, COTSWORKS®, Glenair® and Radiall.
