The GORE® Adsorbent Box provides complete contamination control in one self-contained package. The ePTFE membrane provides active filtering of particles, and the adsorbent provides active adsorption of hazardous vapors and chemicals from contaminating the disk drive. The diffusion tube provides added protection from outside environmental contaminants.

Adsorbent Assembly

The GORE® Adsorbent Assembly is a peel-and-stick, passive adsorbent part that controls a combination of moisture, acid gasses and organic vapors. The assembly contains adsorbent material interspersed within the porous structure of a membrane; this adsorbent membrane is covered by ultraclean ePTFE membrane to prevent shedding.

The Science Behind the Solution

GORE Adsorbent Assemblies are encased in highly porous expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (ePTFE). As a unique material that offers extremely clean, durable and inert packaging, ePTFE provides an inert binder to hold the adsorbent in the GORE Adsorbent Assembly construction. The scaffold diffuses vapors and gasses while providing a rigid form to hold the adsorbent or desiccant. The GORE Adsorbent Assembly also utilizes optimized activated carbon.

The GORE® Adsorbent Box provides complete contamination control in one self-contained package. The GORE Membrane provides active filtering of particles, and the adsorbent provides active adsorption of hazardous vapors and chemicals from contaminating the disk drive. The diffusion tube provides added protection from outside environmental contaminants.

The GORE Adsorbent Box is easy to install and secure in either the hard drive assembly base or top cover. The GORE Adsorbent Box utilizes highly porous expanded PTFE (ePTFE) to contain the adsorbent. As a unique material that offers extremely clean, durable and inert packaging, ePTFE provides an optimum functioning containment layer. The GORE Adsorbent Box also utilizes optimized activated carbon.

Adsorbent Breather

The GORE® Adsorbent Breather is a multi-function, peel-and-stick part designed to filter particles, acid gasses and vapor contaminants from an airstream. Optional diffusion tubes can be incorporated into the GORE® Adsorbent Breather filter for additional functionality. The activated carbon is completely encapsulated by the ultraclean ePTFE membrane, which prevents particle migration. This product is ideal for controlling contamination in drives that are vented to the atmosphere.

Electrostatic Recirculation Filter

The GORE® Electrostatic Recirculation filter is composed of electrostatic filtration media enclosed by protective scrim layers. The electrostatic media provides highly efficient particle clean-up with minimal pressure drop. This filter meets the most stringent cleanliness requirements for organic and ionic contaminant specifications. Precisely engineered protective scrim layers enclose the fibrous electrostatic media, providing a clean environment to ensure disk drive reliability.

The Science Behind the Solution
