Engine Control Units
High-value engine control units must function reliably in the harsh environment of the engine compartment. Proximity to the engine exposes these sensitive units to temperature extremes and contamination by automotive fluids or water spray. Gore’s Series AVS 14, 67, and 200 molded snap-fit vents excel at protecting critical engine control units from environmental contaminants, while providing rapid air exchange to ensure long-term venting reliability.
Electronic Power Steering Control Units
EPS control units are exposed to temperature swings that create pressure buildups, stressing seals in the steering column as well as in the control unit. Often mounted near road-level, EPS control units must be reliably protected from water immersion, mud splash, grit and particulates, and exposure to oil and hydraulic fluids. High-performance GORE Automotive Vents reduce seal stress, and effectively protect the unit from liquids and contaminants, extending product life.
ABS Control Units
Safety-critical ABS control units must be vented reliably for the life of the unit. Exposure to temperature fluctuations created by the engine block or exhaust system, or normal under-the-hood contaminants, can cause ordinary vents to fail. GORE Automotive Vents—engineered specifically for these applications—are performance-tested to ensure reliability and longevity. Our weldable cut parts effectively equalize pressure and block contaminants, reducing warranty issues.
With its new GORE® PolyVent Compact Series, W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. introduces higher-performance venting in a smaller footprint. About 30% smaller than the widely-used PolyVent Snap-Fit product family, the new Compact Series is easier to integrate into even the smallest automotive electronic housings. It provides a higher level of protection for sensitive components like sensors, motors and control units, while providing reliable and rapid pressure equalization.
Approximately 30 percent smaller than other GORE Snap-Fit Vents, the compact series provides a higher level of protection for extremely small electronic components, where space is at a premium.
W. L. Gore & Associates has expanded its line of GORE® Automotive Vents to include the new Series: AVS 41 (P/N VE2048) venting solution, which is engineered specifically for powertrain components. This new vent improves component reliability by equalizing pressure, preventing contamination from water, dust, dirt, and other automotive fluids and simplifying design challenges, ultimately resulting in lower overall costs.
