To aid installation, GORE™ Series 600 Gasket Tape comes with a self-adhesive strip. The flange faces must be carefully cleaned to ensure that the uncompressed tape does not come into contact with contaminants such as oil or grease. As the drawing shows, one end should start with a skived cut.
The gasket tape should be laid in the middle of the sealing width and should start in front of a bolt hole. When the tape has been placed around the entire circumference, lay the end over the skived end and cut off any excess material leaving a total thickness of approximately 120% of the original gasket height.

Torquing
The torque values recommended by the manufacturer of the glass-lined equipment should be observed at all times. We recommend retorquing once after the first temperature cycle. Retorquing should be carried out at room temperature only! We would advise you to look at our separate installation instructions.

Size Selection

The gasket width selected should be such that after installation the inside of the gasket tape ends roughly in line with the inside of the equipment. Along the outside diameter of the flange the tape should protrude at least 3mm.
For equipment measuring up to 800mm in diameter, we recommend 6mm thick GORE™ Series 600 Gasket Tape and for larger equipment 9mm. If any irregulairties are >1mm, the 9mm thick tape must always be used and then shimmed. In the case of irregularities over 1mm, every additional millimetre of irregularity needs to be compensated using 3mm thick tape.
