Sensor Protection

New advances in electronics are allowing sensors to be developed for a wide range of applications and environments. From hazardous gas detectors to pH sensors, electronic sensors are becoming smaller and more robust. In many cases, the environment where the sensor is placed is caustic and can quickly degrade the sensor, lowering its accuracy and lifetime.

The chemical resistance and microporous structure of GORE™ Protective Vents are ideal for sensor applications. The vents are made from expanded PTFE, which is chemically inert and able to withstand exposure to acids and bases without degradation. The hydrophobic and oleophobic nature of the vents allows them to resist wetting out by most fluids, so they retain their gas-permeability. This enables short response time for optimal accuracy when measuring results, ensuring reliability and consistent performance.
