Domestic Appliances
The problem: Domestic appliances exposed to gas emission, temperature, and pressure changes.
Batteries emit gas in normal operation, when recharged or misused, which can cause a hazardous buildup of gas and pressure. In addition, fluctuating temperatures can cause a vacuum that might draw water into the device. Cleaning with cold tap water after use, for example, can cause a domestic appliance to cool down dramatically. This sudden drop in temperature can cause a vacuum of 200 mbar (3 psi) or more inside the device. If the pressure is not equalized, air and moisture are drawn through the seal into the enclosure.
The solution: Relieve battery gas and equalize pressure by continuous venting.
GORE™ Protective Vents effectively protect against the negative effects of pressure differentials caused by battery gas emissions or temperature changes. With their integrated GORE™ Membrane, they ensure constant battery gas relief, respond instantly, and equalize pressure inside the enclosure in seconds.
