The problem: Lighting enclosures exposed to temperature and pressure changes.
Changing temperatures, dust, dirt, and moisture considerably impact the electronics of outdoor lights. Rain, for example, can cool down a lighting enclosure dramatically, causing a vacuum of 200 mbar (3psi) or more inside the enclosure. To equalize the pressure, air and moisture are drawn through the seal into the enclosure where the moisture condenses on the cooler inner walls. This can considerably impair performance.
The solution: Equalize pressure by continous venting.
GORE™ Protective Vents protect against the negative effects of pressure differentials caused by temperature changes. With their integrated GORE™ Membrane, these vents allow an enclosure to equalize pressure immediately when subjected to changes in temperature and pressure. These vents also provide an effective barrier against harsh weather conditions (e.g., rain, snow, high winds), while allowing water vapor to exit quickly and reduce the likelihood of condensation on the lens.
