Acoustic Vents for Immersion Protection
GORE® Acoustic Vents for immersion protection are thin protective barriers that work by sealing the housing and protecting the sensitive speakers, microphones and receivers from water, dust, dirt and debris. These vents meet IP68 standards for ingress protection yet enable high-quality sound transmission through their acoustically transparent materials.
The microporous ePTFE membrane used in the construction of these vents provides continuous airflow through the vent while repelling water and solid materials. This membrane responds easily and quickly to sound pressure, with the vibration of the membrane converting the airborne energy to mechanical vibrations. These vibrations are then reproduced on the other side of the membrane, creating high-quality sound with waterproof protection.
The high airflow of GORE® Acoustic Vents prevents internal pressure buildup during device operation. This added benefit reduces the risk of premature failure and ensures that the device will continue to provide excellent sound throughout its lifetime.
Benefits:
- consistently high-quality sound transmission with low acoustic impedance
- increased durability with reliable dust and metal particulate protection up to IP6x standards
- improved reliability with excellent immersion protection up to IPx8 standards
- optimal acoustic performance with customized design and thickness
- easy installation with robust adhesives
