Petrochemical refining, solvent oil dewaxing filters
A refinery in the southwest was experiencing fugitive emissions associated with solvent oil dewaxing filters. The units were operating in the 700-800 ppm range, and the state regulatory commission threatened closure of the units if the emissions weren't reduced to below 100 ppm.
GORE™ Series 300 Gasket Tape was installed in three solvent-oil dewaxing filters, then monitored closely for fugitive emissions. The result was a tight seal, with fugitive emissions in the 0-9 ppm range, well below the required 100 ppm. Solving this sealing problem helped the refinery meet its operational goals - lowering fugitive emissions and assuring regulatory conformance.
