Summary

Engineers were trying to start up two 10-foot diameter, reconditioned scrubbers, but we were unable to get a seal. The flanges were out of round, and the more they were tightened, the worse our leaks would get. Engineers had to fabricate the full-face gasket on-site due to the warpages.

Results

After consulting with Gore, the engineers decided to use GORE™ joint sealant. The installation was much quicker, and the flanges sealed.
