Paper industry, high pressure digester application

Summary

A midwest paper producer was experiencing frequent blowout with the metal-reinforced gasket that it was using in a high-pressure digester. The digester system was used to break down fiber. The application was cycling to high pressure three to four times per day, and the gasket previously in use was failing and blowing out every few weeks. Gasket blowout failure is dangerous and costly, as the digester process involves fluids such as black liquor, which creates a hazardous situation for employees and loss of productivity.

Results
