Pressure equalization and deaeration are common elements of medical device functionality.  For example, effective pressure equalization helps liquids flow into or out of a vent filter device, or regulate pressure within a device.

GORE™ Medical Membranes can provide the airflow needed to equalize pressure, while reliably retaining liquids and helping prevent cross contamination through the use of expanded PTFE (ePTFE) membrane technology. Some medical liquids can contain entrained gas bubbles which may present a hazard to the patient or affect the proper operation of a medical device.
