Medical devices frequently require a contamination barrier or a means of capturing aerosolized particles.  For example, bacterial and/or viruses may be present in liquid or aerosolized challenges to the device.

GORE™ Medical Membranes for filtration offer the best combination of liquid resistance and airflow through the use of an expanded polyfluoroethylene (PTFE) membrane.  In either liquid or aerosolized challenges, these unique ePTFE membranes block microbial contaminants from entering or exiting a medical filter device, thus keeping the device sterile and protecting the environment.  In the case of particle or aerosol filtration, GORE™ Medical Membranes remove particles from gas streams entering or exiting a device.
