Chlor-Alkali Processing

GORE™ membrane filter socks  are used in a variety of filtration steps within the Chlor-Alkali process. Filter socks and our patented CPVC fluted tubular support elements for Chlor-Alkali applications as well as for other tubular back-pulse applications, are being sold through our partner, the PALL Corporation, and are used in PALL's ZYLON™ and ZEFLUOR™ filters.

Applications

  • Chlor-Alkali Processing: Brine filtration for removal of Ca, Mg, Fe and Hg precipitates in the primary treatment area prior to electrolysis.
  • Sodium Hydroxide: Filtration of mercury from 50% NaOH solution product to low ppb levels.
  • Sodium Chlorate: Removal of iron compounds from chlorate solutions prior to crystallization.
  • Sodium Hypochlorite: Filtration of high-strength bleach solutions for removal of fines that cause bleach decomposition.
