Circulating fluidized bed boiler; coal waste. Off-line pulse jet baghouse filtering 93,490 acfm at an A/C ratio of 4.2 cfm/ft2 (net). Particle size distribution showed a 3.15 - 3.75 µ mmd (note: 50% less than 0.56-0.58µ on a count basis).
Excessive pressure drop and emissions – fly ash easily penetrated fiberglass fabric causing continuous emissions and bag blinding. The boiler was limited to 25% of design steam load due to emissions above permitted levels and pressure drops of 13"+ w.g. Bag life was less than three months due to blinding.
Installed a full set of GORE® membrane/Teflon® B fiberglass fabric filter bags (16.8 oz). Reduced pulse pressure to 60 psi from 100 psi.
Pressure drop has been reduced to 4" w.g. after cleaning, 7" w.g. during cleaning. No visible emissions and no bag failures. Full boiler load has been achieved.
