Conventional polyester spun-bonded filter cartridges became packed with fine dust, especially during the humid summer months. The fan had to be shut down during unloading so that the cartridges could be cleaned manually to unplug the pleats. At least two sets of filters were required for each eight-month shipping season.
The company installed 264 GORE® Filter Cartridges (GORE® membrane/spun-bonded polyester); 28 ft2 per filter, operating at an air-to-cloth ratio of 2.7/1.
The collector operates at a four-inch DP with no downtime from filter plugging. An entire shipping season was completed with one set of filters, and the same set of filters is beginning its second season.
