Secondary lead smelter (shaft furnace). ITK pulse jet collector (720 bags).

Optimization Potential

Local regulatory agencies demanded lower emissions of PbO of <1 mg/nm³. customer tried different products only reaching mg. EPA forced them try set of GORE® membrane filter (against their will). The furnace has 4 identical filters each with 720 bags but individual ducts fans. about 2 years due to pressure drop, and replacing is very costly, they also saw increased bag life as a great benefit.

Solution

Installed a set of GORE® membrane/polyester felt filter bags of 550 g/m² and constructed for low emissions to finally reach the new emission level of <1 mg/Nm³ and also to increase the bag life.

Results

After two years of continuous operation all emission tests in the GORE® membrane filter bag are <1 mg/Nm³ flow controlled at a maximum pressure drop below 100 mm w.g. customer is saying: looks like new as very cleaning cycles required with easily cleaned GORE® membrane filter bag. The bags are still operation and will probably be in service for another few years.
