Manufacturing of catalysts for the petrochemistry.
During the production of catalyst, suspensions are processed through different kinds of solid-liquid separation steps. Then they are dried, precipiated by a fabric filter and finally supplied to packaging. The abrasive characteristics of the product was quickly wearing out the conventional aramid needle felt filter media used. This resulted in high emissions levels and short bag life of only a few months.
GORE™ Acid Resistant Aramid felt membrane filters were installed. They collect abrasive particles on the surface of the filter before they reach the felt layer and cause damage. This maintained the integrity of bags and significantly increased baglife. In addition, emissions dropped to under 1 mg/m. A special construction of the filter bags also eliminated contamination of the product with fibers.
GORE™ Filters increased baglife to over 24 months. This resulted in longer maintenance intervals which significantly increased plant productivity.
