Gore manufactures a variety of standard and custom PTFE insulated wire for any hook-up application. Standard products meet popular military standards. Custom versions can meet military specifications while offering reduced diameter and weight.


As the industry’s only vertically integrated supplier, Gore’s proprietary PTFE tape wrap material is free of pinholes and offers the highest uniformity, making us the leader in high performance hook-up wire. Standard products meet the following Mil Standards:

  • MIL-W-16878/20 (Type ET PTFE, 250 volts)
  • MIL-W-16878/21 (Type E PTFE, 600 volts)
  • MIL-W-16878/22 (Type EE PTFE, 1000 volts)

GORE™ PTFE Hook-up Wire maintains high uniformity and concentricity. This wire is especially suited to mil/aero harness applications due to its small size, wide temperature range, non-flammable and non-outgassing materials, and resistance to fluids and chemicals.

Reduced Cable Size and Weight

If weight and size is important to your application, Gore can offer reduced diameter hook-up wire that still meets MIL-W-16878/20-22. The high integrity and uniformity of our in-house PTFE tapes allows thinner insulations. Gore is also uniquely capable of offering high-integrity, ultra-thin insulation material such as GORE™ High Strength Toughened Fluoropolymer. This insulation offers additional benefits such as: minimum possible diameter for space savings, increased flexibility, lightest possible weight, and unparalleled scrape and cut-through resistance.

Gore also offers Subminiature PTFE Hook-up Wire with gauges as small as 42 AWG. Additional options are also available for GORE™ PTFE Hook-up Wire. Custom color coding and striping are available upon request. Gore offers a wide array of conductor options. Nickel-plated copper, stainless steel strands, high-strength copper alloys, silver, pure nickel, copperweld, and beryllium copper are available on request.
