Gore's flagship dielectric material, High Strength Toughened Fluoropolymer, redefines fluoropolymer cable. GORE® High Strength Toughened Fluoropolymer insulation combines the chemical, electrical, and thermal resistance of PTFE with vastly improved mechanical performance. The result is high-performance insulated wire especially suited for demanding applications such as mil/aero, space, and demanding industrial environments.

GORE® High Strength Toughened Fluoropolymer wire is available in many forms, including single, twisted pair, and controlled-impedance twisted pair. Like most fluoropolymer insulations, GORE® High Strength Toughened Fluoropolymer extends operating temperatures to 260°C.
With the performance advantages of a fluoropolymer, GORE® High Strength Toughened Fluoropolymer far exceeds the abrasion resistance of all commonly specified mil/aero wiring insulations. Unlike Tefzel™, GORE® High Strength Toughened Fluoropolymer wire retains more of its mechanical properties with increasing temperatures.

A thin wall of GORE® High Strength Toughened Fluoropolymer insulation dramatically increases the break strength of a wire. As the example shows, adding 0.002" of GORE® High Strength Toughened Fluoropolymer to a PTFE insulated wire shares the load with the conductor and doubles its break strength.

The extraordinary strength of GORE® High Strength Toughened Fluoropolymer insulation allows a much thinner wall with no sacrifice in mechanical integrity. This translates to small size and light weight compared to commonly specified mil/aero insulations.

GORE® High Strength Toughened Fluoropolymer insulation can greatly extend the mechanical performance of any GORE® Insulated Wire. If wire diameter and weight are critical, GORE® High Strength Toughened Fluoropolymer can substitute for much thicker insulation and still survive demanding environments. Contact W. L.
