Flagstaff, AZ and Las Vegas, NV (October 19, 2010)—At the Vascular Interventional Advances Conference, W. L. Gore & Associates (Gore) today announced the opening of voting for the 2010 Pioneers in Performance Awards. Each year, a distinguished group of physicians are honored with the Pioneers in Performance awards for their unrelenting dedication to advancing vascular and endovascular therapy and minimally invasive treatment options for patients worldwide, including aortic and lower-limb bypass and dialysis access surgery. This year, nominees were selected by past recipients of the Pioneers in Performance awards and winners will be selected by ballot. A full list of this year’s nominees is available on the ballot at pioneersinperformance.com.
Voting is open to the medical community and is available on-site at the Gore booth at VIVA 2010, October 19-22, 2010 and online at pioneersinperformance.com until October 31, 2010. Ballots are kept confidential and a person can vote only once. Final winners selected by the endovascular and broader medical community will be honored during the VEITHsymposium in November 2010 and at Charing Cross 2011.
The academy of past recipients selected nominees across four major categories that reflect a strong and ongoing commitment to improving clinical and patient performance through collaboration. Nominees have demonstrated collaboration as it relates to improving patient and clinical performance: a commitment to ongoing learning, dedication to sharing knowledge with peers and patients, dedication to creating consensus within the medical community, and a dedication to analysis of outcomes.
"We congratulate all of the very deserving nominees for their collaboration with peers and industry with a goal of improving clinical performance," said David Abeyta, Business Leader, Gore. "We have chosen to underwrite the Pioneers in Performance awards program because performance through collaboration is a core value shared by Gore. We look forward with anticipation to learning who the medical community chooses to honor this year and hope that the honorees continue to inspire others for years to come."
