Gore Signs Teradyne Licensing Agreement To Develop GbX® Cable Assemblies
NASHUA, NH (May 10, 2005) - Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE: TER) Connection Systems Division, the industry leader in high-performance connection systems, today announced that W. L. Gore & Associates, Inc. (Gore) has signed a licensing agreement to develop and manufacture high-speed cable assembly solutions for Teradyne's GbX® interconnect platform.
"We've had a long standing relationship with Gore, and the GbX license agreement continues to build on a successful portfolio of products between the two companies," said Lou Zajac, Marketing Manager, Teradyne Connection Systems. "With Gore's cable and cable assembly capabilities, customers can leverage the complete GbX product line for all of their high-speed interconnect requirements."
"We are very pleased to extend our working relationship with Teradyne Connection Systems to include the GbX family of products," said David Gioconda, DataComm Market Segment Leader, Gore. "Convergence of voice, data and video in the data communication marketplace is driving the demand for large data pipelines. The combination of high density GbX connectors and Gore high performance cables set a new benchmark for maximizing bandwidth and signal transmission distance from a limited amount of printed circuit board real estate."
Teradyne's GbX product family includes 2, 3, 4, and 5-pair versions with density up to 69 differential pairs per linear inch, as well as power and grounded guidance. An L-Series version for low speed signals is available in the 2-pair, 3-pair and 4-pair configurations. Both companies have been working closely to offer products that share a common design to ensure intermateability.
"When the cabling solutions are available, original equipment manufacturer (OEM) users can source all GbX interconnect components with confidence that the parts will work together and meet their performance and reliability requirements," Zajac said.
The licensing agreement is effective immediately. Pre-production availability is expected in July 2005 with full production available later this year.
