With an increase in visitor numbers to 23,300 (2007: 22,876), Techtextil ended its 13th edition with a new record. 23,300 trade visitors from 85 countries travelled to Techtextil. A total of 11,200 visitors from Germany attended the event, around 500 more than the previous event. The leading nations for visitors with higher numbers of attendees, too, are: Italy, France, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Belgium, Switzerland, Spain, Turkey and Austria.

Under the umbrella message „Membranes & fibers from the inventors of Gore-Tex® Products“, W. L. Gore & Associates showed its wide range of products for the technical textile industry. Visitors could discover Gore’s broad portfolio from fibers and fabrics, to cover for organic waste treatment and garments.

„We are very satisfied with the outcome of the show and were glad to be able to conduct such interesting discussions with the visitors – their level of expertise was very high“, summarized Robin Schaller, European Business Leader for GORE™ Fibers. Given the overall positive feedback, Gore will most likely participate at Techtextil 2011.

Gore products exhibited:

GORE™ Tenara® Architectural Fabric (U.S. Site)
Made from a unique all fluoropolymer construction, it combines flexibility with complete immunity to UV sunlight, and exceptional textile aesthetic qualities. These aesthetics include high light transmission, availability of custom colors and an exceptional textile look and 'hand', unlike any other architectural fabric available on the market.

GORE™ Tenara® Sewing Thread
Resistant to UV sunlight, chemicals, saltwater, extreme weather, and acid rain, ideal for outdoor applications.

GORE™ Rastex® Sewing Thread (U.S. Site)
Made from 100 percent expanded PTFE and engineered specifically for the demands of filtration applications, withstands exposure to chemicals, high temperatures, abrasives, and moist environments.

GORE™ OMNIBEND™ Fiber for High Performance Ropes (U.S. Site)
Can drastically increase the service life of synthetic ropes used in high-tension bending applications.

GORE™ Fibers for Fine Diameter Fabrics
Technical textiles are demanding finer and finer monofilament fibers. To date, the available sizes of PTFE fibers has limited their use in precision filtration and woven reinforcement applications. Gore offers the worlds finest diameter ePTFE monofilaments, down to 45 microns. These can be used to create the thinnest, chemically resistant woven reinforcements and precision rated monofilament fabrics. Gore ePTFE fibers are available in both flat and round form. For applications that demand even greater diameter and ovality control, contact Gore for more information about our custom True Monofilament fibers.

GORE™ Fibers for Dimensionally Stable Fabrics
Specially treated 100% PTFE fibers have been developed by Gore to create fabrics with dramatically improved dimensional stability, unnatainable with any other fluoropolymer fiber. A wide range of applications will benefit from this technology; from reinforcing scrims to precision woven open meshes and absolute rated filtration fabrics. Stabilized fabrics can be designed with greater open area, more consistent spacing, and are easy to handle, cut and fabricate.

GORE™ Fibers for Flame-Resistant Fabrics
Gore is developing staple and continuous filament fibers that are uniquely compatible with other fibers and yarns, to produce new and interesting FR fabrics. The addition of Gore fibers can result in improvements in drape, hand, moisture management, tear strength, abrasion resistance and overall flame/heat resistance and, these fibers are Berry Amendment compliant.
