Gore is a great place to grow your knowledge, skills and abilities, to bring your innovative ideas to light and to make a difference - and perhaps even to change your life.
At Gore, the commitment to our associates goes far beyond mere remuneration in the form of their monthly salary. The compensation, benefits and ongoing learning and development opportunities that we offer reflect just how much we value our associates’ contribution to the company’s success. Our objective is to compensate Associates based on their overall contribution to the Enterprise. We will strive to be internally fair and externally competitive. We are committed to long-term, sustainable business growth, and believe that we are all in the same boat working toward that common goal. The core principle of "fairness", and the fundamental beliefs in the "long-term view" of things and that we are "all in the same boat" together - underlie our total compensation strategy.
Our Associate Stock Ownership Plan, ASOP, forms the centerpiece of our benefit platform globally. This ASOP provides associates with equity ownership in the company while building financial security for retirement. It enables all associates to have the opportunity to participate and share in the growth of the company by acquiring ownership.
Gore also provides for a pension plan, profit sharing and various insurance schemes. In addition to this, many of Gore’s benefits and services are designed to ensure that associates achieve a healthy balance between the increasing demands of work and family.
Specific benefits for associates may vary from one country to another, however, and are more fully described during the interview process.
Unlike other companies that base their employee's pay review on the evaluations of just one or two people -- or simply on the supervisors' opinions alone - Gore involves many associates in the process. To ensure that everyone is remunerated fairly, we ask associates to rank their team members each year in order of their contribution to the enterprise. In addition to this numerical ranking, we invite comments on the rationale behind the ranking as well as on the particular strengths and potential areas of improvement of the associates noted on the evaluator’s list.
Of equal importance: we ensure that our compensation is and remains competitive by taking part in extensive external benchmarking. Each year we compare the compensation of Gore associates from a variety of functions and roles with that of their peers in other companies.
At Gore, we do not have pre-defined career paths or roles. Instead, you encourage find your own way. Each associate is responsible for his/her own development plan. This is designed to align his/her interests with the needs of the company. Everyone at Gore has a sponsor, who is committed to helping you succeed. Sponsors are responsible for supporting your growth, for providing good feedback on your strengths and areas that offer opportunities for development, and for helping you connect with others in the organisation.
We also encourage you to develop specific competencies. Once established, you can then decide whether you wish to deepen your knowledge by becoming an expert in a specialised field or to extend your breadth by assuming broader areas of responsibility. Ultimately your career path will be determined by the degree to which your skills and passion are able to take advantage of the opportunities available. The development of each associate is dynamic and can naturally change over time, given that a career path in the company may take a different direction from the one originally intended.
As a matter of course we provide a series of in-house and external trainings to promote both your professional and personal development. We also provide you with all mandatory equipment, since we take great care to maintain the highest possible standards of safety and hygiene in the workplace. All new associates worldwide are given the opportunity to take part in an orientation programme. During these days they can learn more about our philosophy, culture and product portfolio and can use that platform to build networks with other new associates.
